"Square Hen" is a counted cross-stitch chart with instructions translated in English.

Design stitch count: 89 wide x 89 high

Design area:

• 11,1 x 11,1 cm (4½ x 4½ in) on a 40 count linen or evenweave
• 14,8 x 14,8 cm (5¾ x 5¾ in) on a 32 count linen or evenweave
• 14,1 x 14,1 cm (5½ x 5½ in) on a 16 count Aida
• 16,1 x 16,1 cm (6½ x 6½ in) on a 28 count linen / evenweave or on 14 count Aida

Special stitches: This is a cross-stitch design with quite a lot of satin stitches (the pink squares) and 8 eyelet stitches.

Threads and colours

This pattern shows 8 colours:

• 4 references of DMC stranded cotton
• 4 colours with both Gentle Arts (counterpart in DMC references available on the chart)

The model on the picture has been stitched on a 40 count linen fabric (colour off-white) using one strand of cotton over two threads of fabric for a faded effect. But you can stitch it on a lower count fabric using two strands of cotton over two threads of fabric.

Recommended fabric: linen or evenweave of your choice regarding the stitch count, colour "white" or "off-white", 35x35 cm (14 x 14 in). Can also be worked on Aida (special instructions included to replace the satin stitches).
