"Hens and Sheep Boxes" is a cross-stitch chart with instructions translated in English.

This is a 2 part design. You can stitch it as a whole but then you won't be able to mount it as shown on the picture (as to give similar proportions to both designs, the designer used fabrics of different count (see below).

Design stitch count: Hens = 53 wide x 28 high; Sheep = 63 wide x 41 high

7,6 x 4 cm (3 x 1,6 in) on a 36 count linen or a 18 count Aida
8,8 x 4,7 cm (3,5 x 1,8 in) on a 32 count linen
8,4 x 4,5 cm (3,3 x 1,7 in) on a 16 count Aida

Sheep

8 x 5 cm (3,1 x 2 in) on a 40 count linen or a 20 count Aida
10,5 x 6,8 cm (4,1 x 2,7 in) on a 32 count linen
10 x 6,5 cm (3,9 x 2,6 in) on a 16 count Aida

Special stitches: This is a cross-stitch design with some French knots.

Threads and colours

This pattern shows 9 colours:

5 references of DMC stranded cotton
4 references of ATALIe threads (no counterpart in DMC references on the chart)

ATALIe threads are shaded hand-dyed cotton (or silk) threads by French designer ATALIe; their subtle shading gives a special outcome to your stitching. The model on the picture has been stitched on a 36 count linen fabric (colour "Flax") for the Hens and on a 40 count linen fabric (colour "Natural") for the Sheep using one strand of cotton over two threads of fabric.

Recommended Fabric:

for the Hens: 36 count linen or 18 count Aida (colour "Flax") 20x20 cm (8x8 in)
for the Sheep : 40 count linen or 20 count Aida (colour "Natural") 20x20 cm (8x8 in)
You may also stitch them both on a lower count fabric, for instance 32 count linen or 16 count Aida : 30x35 cm (12x14 in)
